CMS students explore careers, collaborate with local professionals on post-graduation pathways

Nurse Rachel Elsea of The Ohio State University’s James Cancer Center talks with Circleville Middle School students about job growth in the healthcare field over the next 8 years.

Circleville Middle School – On Friday, students and staff at CMS played host to 25 professionals from a host of local businesses and agencies to talk about post-graduation careers and pathways as a part of the school’s college and career readiness initiatives.

Covering everything from insurance and the medical field to law enforcement, farming, engineering and marketing, students were provided with 20-minute informational rotations followed by a Q and A with real life career practitioners where they were exposed to an array of job skills, technical skills, and the necessary experience needed to perform each role in the work force.

While many roles require years of technical research and study, our career panelists also highlighted communications and soft skills needed in the work place to ensure strong collaboration, punctuality, and efficiency.
