CHS Students Honored at 2018 Scholastic Art Awards

Circleville City Schools – On Saturday, two Circleville High School art students were recognized at the 2018 Central Ohio Regional Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony. The event was head at the Canzani Center Auditorium at the Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD).

Senior Sydney Dowden took home three separate Honorable Mentions for her printmaking project titled ‘Ferris Wheel,’ and her two photography submissions titled ‘Winter Landscape’ and ‘Cemetery.’ Junior Morgan Cordell took home the Silver Key Award for a painting submission entitled ‘Vulnerability.’

Per artandwriting.org, “each year, more than 100 visual arts and literary arts organizations across the country to bring the Scholastic Awards to local communities. Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2017, students submitted more than 330,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards.”

Tiger Award winning exhibitions will be on display from February 11th through February 22th in Columbus College of Art and Design’s Acock Gallery in the Canzani Center.
